If you are new to the Mississippi Gulf Coast or considering moving here, you must investigate homes that are on the water. “On-the-water” in this area can mean many things. The following is a listing of various types of water settings:
- Gulf coast beach – This means you are literally on the beach or on highway 90 with a beach view.
- Bayou – There are miles of bayou’s that connect to the Gulf Coast, a home can be sited on a bayou which provides access to the Gulf.
- River – There are several rivers that empty into the Gulf Coast and homes and home sites are available.
- Bay – There are a few bays, Biloxi for example. Homes are situated on the bay with views of the bay which is connected to the Gulf of Mexico
Hundreds of homes are sited on waterways all along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. There are many choices including building a home on one of the many home sites available. Many people have docks, bulkheads, piers or other construction that permits access to the water with their boats. There are plenty of boat ramps around as well.
I live in a home on Old Fort Bayou with a pier and boat dock. It’s great. The view and ability to jump in the boat and in a few minutes be at one of several restaurants is great. Bayou and River homes generally connect to the Gulf of Mexico.
There are many homes for less than $450,000. Condos are also available on the beach at very reasonable prices compared to other resort type communities.
