Living in California is fine if you are working and making enough to cover the high cost of living. My wife and I were looking at various parts of the U.S. to retire. Our first thought was Florida. I investigated and found that prices were climbing there and too many people were moving to Florida making it as crowded as California. Bill Anderson introduced us to Ocean Springs, MS after he had purchased his retirement home there. We visited the area and loved it. Prices of homes were much lower as was property taxes and many other expenses than in California. Bill introduced me to a home on Old Fort Bayou where I could build a pier and boat house. In addition to the home meeting our needs, it was on two acres of land with water access. The cost of this home, property and water location would have been cost prohibitive in California. Bill knew what we wanted and helped us find our retirement home. I recommend him for his knowledge of what people who want and should relocate need.
My wife and I were living in California with no possibility of buying the type of home we wanted in Orange County. I had the opportunity to relocate anywhere in the country so we started talking of leaving our rental apartment and buying a home in an area we liked and could afford in retirement. Bill Anderson had done the same thing in his preparation for retirement down the road. He and his wife decided on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and introduced my wife and I to the area.
We were shocked to see prices for homes in the area which were fully 1/3 the cost of homes in Orange County. Bill showed us some homes and we decided to buy a new home in Biloxi. When the home was finished we moved. We love the area, and the cost of almost everything is lower than it was in Orange County. The food, culture and people are a treasure.
Bill understood what we needed. Not just the house but the need to find an area that was culturally close to the way things were for us when we grew up in Kentucky. The Mississippi Gulf Coast hit the mark and then some. I highly recommend Bill for his knowledge of real estate and more than that, what his clients really want even when sometimes they are not sure themselves.
About six years ago, I had the opportunity to retire early so I took it. My wife and I were living in the Sacramento, California area. Looking out into the future, I understood that costs were escalating in California well beyond normal inflation. Bill introduced me to the Las Vegas area where he had some investment properties. At that time, Las Vegas was inviting. Home prices were low and the cost of living was a bit lower than California. We moved to Las Vegas and the same thing that had happened to California was happening to Nevada. High costs and crowds. The neighborhood changed and I did not like the changes.
Bill Anderson, my brother, introduced my wife and I to the Mississippi Gulf Coast area on a fact finding trip. We were very pleased at the cost of homes and low taxes. The cost of gasoline and even food was better than Las Vegas and far better than California. We were fairly sold on the area and decided to come back during August to see if we could manage the weather. Again, a supprise. Yes it was humid during the day but with the breezes off of the Gulf, the afternoons were nice. It was nice to find an area where the water was soft and did not corrode the pipes, and there was actually water without shortage pricing.
Should you find yourself thinking of a place to retire, consider the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Bill Anderson has the experience to help you through the entire transition.
