You can always count on finding an Italian Restaurant in almost every town and city around the world. Along with Chinese food, I believe that Italian food is a universal food eaten by almost everyone. The Gulf Coast is no exception. There are a few Italian restaurants scattered along the coast and we have eaten in a few. Salute is one of the best.
Salute is located on Beach Blvd in Gulfport (U.S. 90). It has an ideal location across from the beach. The restaurant is located in a nice office building occupying the first floor.
The building was flooded up to the second floor when hurricane Katrina hit. If it were not for the sign above you in the lobby you would never have known that water would have been above your head had you been there at that time.
My wife and I along with friends have been to Salute on several occasions. Most of my friends say that Salute is their favorite Italian Restaurant on the coast. The food has been good on each visit. My wife had spaghetti and meat balls. The meat balls are a meal by themselves. Actually one is. Quite a lot of food. We share our meals most often to try more items.
I had the shrimp and crawfish alfredo. I was impressed. I love crawfish and of course who does not like alfredo. On another visit we arrived in time for Sunday brunch. Their Bloody Mary’s were very good. I do not usually drink at brunch but I made an exception and was glad that I did.
My supreme omelet was quite good. Loaded with my favorite sea food and crawfish. They serve good bread at the table but I wanted toast and they made some for me. Our companions enjoyed their meals as well. I believe at this point that it is obvious I like the restaurant since I have been there more than once. You should enjoy it as well.
